IVP at the IBBC Autumn Conference 2024: Empowering Startups and Driving Investment in Iraq

On December 12-13, 2024, the IBBC Autumn Conference, themed "Growing Opportunities," was held at the Taj Hotel in Dubai. This significant event brought together Iraqi and UAE ministers, British officials, and global businesses to discuss vital sectors such as the economy, energy, finance, climate, and education, focusing on Iraq's strategic opportunities in Kurdistan and Basrah.

 

Under Scale Iraq, an initiative supported by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, IVP sponsored the participation of four standout startups at the conference. The Scale Iraq program is designed to help startups become investment-ready through tailored support, mentorship, and exposure to investors, bridging gaps that hinder their growth and fostering economic development in Iraq.

 

These startups showcased their innovative solutions to a diverse audience of investors, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs. Their participation facilitated valuable networking opportunities, insightful discussions, and potential collaborations.

 

IVP also took the stage as a key speaker at the conference, delivering a presentation on Iraq's investment landscape. The discussion highlighted both the challenges and opportunities in the ecosystem while showcasing IVP’s flagship initiatives, including:

• The Catalyst Fund: Supporting early-stage startups through targeted investments.
• The Orange Corners Innovation Fund (OCIF): Providing financial and technical support to empower Iraqi entrepreneurs.
• Scale Iraq: Supporting 30 startups in becoming investment-ready and connecting them with regional and international investors.

Through Scale Iraq and other programs, IVP continues to foster innovation and create opportunities for Iraqi startups, helping them navigate challenges and achieve sustainable growth.
